  
On April 2004 the 1st and
the 2nd, Florence hosted the VI Environment Conference of the
Regions of Europe (ENCORE2004). About 250 representatives
of the
regions of the European Union and the new Member States discussed
on sustainable development themes and how to strengthen the role
of regional governments.
During the Conference delegates agreed how to strengthen the
integration of environmental concerns into the economic
development policies, implementing the strategies of sustainable
production and consumption according to the Plan of Action
approved in the United Nations Summit held in Johannesburg, and in
agreement with the European policy on Sustainable Development. |
