Since January 2003 Eures Toscana opened a relationship with the Eures service of the
Region of London.
London is an international attraction centre for young people coming from every where
in Europe, among them, many Italians who live there, studying and working.
Generally the job market in London is very dynamic and there is a lot of possibilities of job,
especially for those who want to stay in the City only few months and do not have big pretensions.
Besides the Italian restaurants, there are many other vacancies which can easily be fulfilled
by Italian people: pubs, hotels, supermarkets, shops and also the sectors of market searches
and clients' assistance can offer good opportunities.
For those who want to stay in London for a longer time and to have better perspectives of placement,
it is fundamental to acquire a good knowledge of the language.
Nevertheless, both for a high qualification job and for low qualification job,
you need a correct layout and presentation of your
Curriculum Vitae (C.V.) in English.
This has to be compiled in a brief form and has to be schematic (two pages at least)
and has to be structured with three sections: qualifications, working experience and hobbies.
For job-seekers, a channel of search very used it is the one of the private agencies, which
are specialised in specific sectors and also offer paid temporary job.
The service is free for workers and in case of a good result of placement the agency will receive,
from the employer, a fee oscillating among 5% and the 10% of the annual salary of the first year.
You can find other job vacation on many newspapers, often free and distributed in the
subway: they review periodically (weekly or monthly) the offers for employment.

Here you will find some information about job seeking in some sectors:
Working in food supply
It is very easy, and often no experience is required and it's not even required a good knowledge of the language.
London is full of Italian restaurants and there is a lot of fast food and chains of restaurants which
are permanently searching personnel (McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Pizza Express, Coffee Republic, Coast Coffee)
and in which, with exception for the summer months, when there is a lot of students, it
doesn't exist any problem to immediately find job.
The most required qualifications are for Cook, Waiter, Help-waiter or Counter Hand.
But it generally concerns fatiguing and underpaid jobs.

Working in call centres
If you speak a good English and you have the ability of communicating by telephone,
you have a good opportunity to work in telephone centres for assistance of clients for the whole Europe
created in London by multinationals operating in various sectors (flights, tourism, cars).
There is in fact a notable demand for personnel who speaks particularly other European
languages as French, German and, in more reduced measure, Italian.

Working in market searches
The searches of market are a good chance for those who, in the long period, want to insert themselves
in the sector of the marketing or translations. The job is free lance and, therefore, competition is very high.
The engagement can concern only the duration of a project, which can be of only a pair of
weeks or, instead, may have more continuous character.
A good level of knowledge of the English language is required.

Working in the computer science
This is an extremely important sector because there are many vacancies and the salaries are generally good.
A good English is always necessary and experience is required, more than certificates for completed
and ongoing studies.

To plan your own working experience in the Region in London, however,
it's of fundamental importance to report to the
Job Centres
and to learn as the system of vacancies
managed by the Job Centres works in internet.
Job Centres are public and free structures, simple to use and
rather efficient, accustomed to work with people speaking few English.
They are well distributed in every zone in London and separated for sector of employment and typologies
of job (full time, part time) and they constitute a very effective tool if you haven't a good English and
if you are satisfied working in the principal input channel for the foreigners, that is in the food supply;
instead, they are less useful for the search of qualified jobs.
All the operating Job Centres, have a national system of diffusion of vacancies,
which allows to seek vacancies for every profession, choosing from the proposed menu the job group
(pointing on the productive sectors), pointing, therefore, on the choice of the job type
(or rather the degree of professional qualification), finally passing to the search of the job title
(the specific profession) for single town or city or county (geographical area).
The described system of search it is related to a telephone information service "jobseeker direct"
(0044 845 6060 234), finalised to furnish, to those who are looking for a job, specific information on the
available offers.
In the framework of the relationship of collaboration with Eures Toscana,
the London Eures Adviser, Jane Osborne,
who works inside the structure of the Job Centres, is available to furnish complementary information
and suggestions to facilitate, according to the various demands, the entry into employment of Italian citizens
in London.
